Trim motor sounds strange.

Ok, I found that I do have a bad solenoid, so I am replacing it. I hooked up the trim motor directly to the battery (solenoid is on order) so I could lower the drive. It works but sounds kinda strange on first contact, it doesn't respond immediately, seems to stumble and kicks in full bore after a second or 2. Same symptoms raising it. Also does it using the switches. It started doing this last time I used the boat last Oct. The motor is less than 2 years old. Is it on its way out or is this normal? It never did this before last Oct. so I'm concerned. If it needs replacing, how long do these things last?

What, no one every have a trim pump motor act up like mine is doing? Ok, I got a cold beer for the first guy who has information leading to the arrest of my question! In fact, I got a 36 pack on ice, it's gonna be close to, if not over 100 degrees here today in So. Cal!

Mine sounds like crap as well. I'm just waiting till it goes out to do a rebuild. Until then it seems to work fine, it's just noisy on the up stroke.

Hmmm... Don't know if I want to roll the dice and have it totally die out on the water. Don't think it will but I think I will pick up a new one and drop it in and see if the old one can be fixed and keep it as a spare.

Could be tight trim rams also or even low oil level. Check oil for milkyness also could be seeping in water.

Oil level is correct and amber clear. Motor is under 2yrs old with under 40 hrs. on it. Connections are sanded and clean. How do I know if I have tight trim rams and if so, how do I correct that? Thanks!
