I've got a 2001 Merc 200 HP Optimax. Serial # 0T371326.

I can hear the trim motor spin, but the outboard will not move. It is a quiet spin, I don't hear any scraping or binding.

I filled it with fluid early this year and I don't see any leaks.

Ideas?

if you can try bleading the system. try triming up, with someone lifting on the motor, then refill the tank, it works then go up and down 4 or 5 times, and check level. if not you have other problems..

Re: trim motor spins but outboard does not move

I had plenty fluid.
Took the trim motor off and hooked it to a battery. It was not spinning. The quite spin I thought I heard was just a hum.

Took the motor apart and it had water in it. It was a mess. It's beyond repair. I need a new motor.
Merc part # is 878265A 4
List on Merc Parts express is $299.
Any other compatible parts out there?

Before you write it off try some killrust on the iron parts, you might get a surprise, they can be repaired.
