trim motor

I had a problem where the remote trim switch corroded and caused the trim motor to stay on in the down position overnight. the trim and tilt now run very roughly and slowly. When I use the trim switch on the cowling, the electric trim motor gets very hot and causes the ground wire on the motor to glow to the point that it is melting the paint on the electric motor. The hydrolics seem fine as there are no leaks and the motor will stay where I put it. Question is what do you think is the problem. Will a burnt up motor give symptions like this? or could a relay be involved? Thanks

Re: trim motor

Awol.... It would help if everyone knew what year, horsepower, and engine this tilt motor is on.
