I have a mercruiser 470 and the trim is stuck in the up position. the trim pump runs just fine in up and down modes. Has plenty of fluid as well. Suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Get your biggest friend to stand on it while you trim it down.I have seen it done before.

Re: trim stuck up

I had my drive unit stuck all the way down once. I had to jumper out the selenoid with some needle nose pliers and have someone else push the trim/trailer switches while I held the pliers on the contacts. It did work and I was able to get the boat back on the trailer. I got a new selenoid for the up side and it has worked fine ever since.

I'm not sure but I think my trim pump is working up and down. It's just that nothing happens, no movement.

Sounds like the piston is stuck in one of the trim cylinders. Loosen the trim hoses on the pump and put some weight on the drive to push it down.

Well, I got it down, now it just flops around. I can pull it up and down by hand now. Trim motor still runs but it sounds like a motor with no load on it or something. Could there be air in the pump or something?

It only took me a year! haha. It turns out it was low on fluid! Doh! Also had a leaky cyl. Now it will not trim down, only up. Plenty of fluid and I removed any air twice. Suggestions?
