trim not working

I bought my boat a few weeks ago. I had it narrowed down to 2 that I was interested in, but choose the one I did because it had powered trim. I took the boat out for a test drive and I saw it work. The previous owner informed that the lift did not work however , but he never worried about it, just left the motor down. The day after I bought it, I took it out again. NOw all of a sudden, the power lift works, but the trim doesn't. I don't get it, any explanations????. I have a 70 hp evinrude (1977). Thankyou for reading.

I don't get it either Sprout. Have you checked the fluid level? Maybe it's low or contaminated with water or air. Some fresh fluid may help.

I wish I knew the answer to these questions. I have a 1988 Evinrude 150 gt and my trim works if I apply power to the green or blue wire. I put new relays in but all it will do is click if I try to use tilt and trim switch. It has me at a complete loss. Any got a thought on this problem
