Hi Guys,
I need to remove the pin on the transom to adjust the height of the motor but it is majorly seized. Tried rust away and a hammer an chisel. Next step would be to just get a new pin and put in the hole above this one as I want to raise the motor. Any other ideas on how to get this pin out? What is the proper name for this pin? I've been trying to find a new one but don't know the proper terminology. Thanks!!
Anthony

You will need to apply heat, using a hand help propane torch to free that rod.

The name of that rod is "Reverse Lock Rod".

Note that you are not attempting to raise the engine, but rather to change the tilt angle.

I've had to cut a few of them. Cut it flush with the clamp bracket casting and then either drill or drive the rest of the pin out. A good flat punch and BFH can do wonders. If that doens't work, get a good drill bit and drill it out. New pins aren't expensive, and it's not hard to find used ones...
- Scott

Hi Ants,
Look a little closer to home. Local outboard dealers, shops, graveyards, etc...
- Scott
