Trim pump fuse fails repeatedly on The water while not in use. Sometimes during launch and trailering and sometimes on the open water. I go to adjust the trim and the fuse has blown. It does not blow while the switch is physically in use.

Its clearly an electrical problem, most likely an internal short. I did notice the trim creep up once or twice during rougher seas. Not sure if his is related but this would indicate a hydraulic problem.

The shop has removed the control arm and tested the switch and relays. And the wiring has all been inspected and it all seems good. On land, however, we cannot get the fuse to blow. Perhaps the engine running at a slightly higher voltage increases the current enough to blow the fuse?

What would the quickest and most cost effective way to get this fixed considering labor is $125/hr.

I was thinking replace everything but the pump (trim switch, wiring from switch to pump, relays and wiring harness on pump). As these items are relatively inexpensive and the installation time is minimal.

Water test and see if it still blows. Next step disassemble pump and look for a short, then replace pump if nothing is found.

Anyone experience anything like this or have any other options?

Thanks

Pull the handle off the control and look at the wires where they go through the control. Bet you find a bare wire.

Found that suggestion in the forums already but they look brand new. Other thoughts?
