The last couple times out the trim pump fuse has blown. Changing out the 10A fuse returns normal operation, but I would like to find out what is causing it. The most obvious is a shorted wire.

How would I go about finding the short, besides visual inspection? Could you use a multimeter to test for continuity? If so, how?

I have spent a lot on the boat recently and this one seems like an easier DIY.

Basically, you can't. But you can look in some logical places. First would be the control itself. The wires wrap around the handle so the handle can move. The wires sometimes chafe and short out.

Next would be asking if you installed anything recently next to any of the wiring or wiring harness from the helm to the engine. Drilled a hole in the wiring or a screw in it.

Good idea! I did have a GPS/fish finder installed. I will check and see where they have drilled or added screws for the transducer and power cables. Thanks
