New, complete pump assembly has different hose connections. These are approx 1/4” npt size but are hydraulic type and size.

Drive is an MC-1.

1- anyone know what hose kit I need?

2- it was getting dark but I looked down, those hoses go way down. Is this going to be another learning experience? Just got done wrestling the housing so I hope it stays on. 😀

When I made the swap I used a new style manifold and trim hoses from an Alpha 1, the trim ram hoses remained the same. The 40 year old hoses were aging and leaking, time to replace.

If adapting to the old MC-1 hoses from manifold to pump, haul the new trim pump down to a good automotive store and find the correct fittings to adapt the old hoses to the new pump.

the oildyne pump you have shown has the SAE inverted flare fittings (same as your cars brakes) depending on your hose, any good hydraulics store would have adapters.

for my VP, I had to go from the inverted flare on the pump to 37 degree JIC at the transom shield. my local hydraulic shop also makes hoses, so I have brand new shiny braided stainless hoses.

Yup, wish I'd written that thread size down but I got everthing I needed at Napa. For what it's worth I never found an adapter-type piece. The used pump I bought came with some but they were brass and stripped out like butter. I used a 10" or 12" brake line with the pump's thread size at one end and the boat's line size on the other. You need a coupling piece to put those together and you're done. Bend to your needs.

Thanks guys. Got pump mounted had to customize can never just be easy!

On the main power and ground. Pump came with nice approx 6’ long wires prob to run all the way to battery. I would need the full length.

Should i cut the power wire and splice to existing main power that went to old pump, or direct to battery?

Ground close by in engine are or run to battery?

Thank you sir.
i did a test run. Up didn’t want to work at first throttled it back and forth prob air pocket.

It did start to work, I have about 8” of plastic brake line tubing 1/4” from Napa installed on the last inches to pump connection.
One of the tubes blew out. Either had a week spot or I need to run metal tube all the way?

The pump is fully fused, run the power lead directly from the battery, and get a 'transom mounted trim switch'... Make your life a lot easier. ;)

That’s a dang good idea.
Got some soft drawn copper to replace the poly tubing.

One of the rams is off by about about an inch from the other. both extended out. But i only got to run new pump a few moments before
the poly tube split. Will it balance out?

Hooked back up ran back and forth got some oil discharge out of cap area at first-maybe it’s the air bleed?

ran them back and forth. One ram always starts first and the other doesn’t start until it’s done. Its
very polite.

In or out same same thing as soon as the first ram finishes second one goes.

is it just path of least resistance, Outdrive still off of the boat. maybe it needs some resistance for them both to go together?

i did have to run some tubing that is slightly higher than the pump, will this be a problem? I bled high point fitting while running switch.

You're going to want the outdrive on the boat to bleed to properly and for the cylinders to even out. If there's TOO much air there's a slightly more involved procedure for it. If all you did what change the pump, leaving oil in the rams you shouldn't have to do that. I use 30WT oil so my method differed a bit. I purged one ram at a time, leaving both rams fully installed but isolating one at a time. I'd plug both holes in the manifold and fully submerge both hose ends in a full qt of oil, then secure the qt in place or have an assistant hold it in such a way to keep the ends submerged. Then going fully up/down with the connected ram, the air comes out and oil goes in naturally. Reverse the condition of the isolation, plugging the other side of the manifold and submerging the other hose ends while properly hooking up the now-bled cylinder. Repeat up/down a couple times. Hook up all hoses, check oil level, go up and down in increments while checking oil level, and once you've gone up and down once or twice at a good oil level, go up and down some more. Always give the motor some time to cool between cycles. This isn't quite as easy as the prescribed method but I've found it easier to keep neat and clean.
