trim pump oil

So i checked the oil on my trim pump and its all milky white which i know means water in it. My question is where should i start to look for the problem and also what type of oil do i replace it with.....thanks

Start to look for the problem on the trim cylinders (outdrive) . . . Look for signs of leaks, etc.

Is there an oil sheen when the boat is in the water?

As far as replacing the oil . . . 2 options:

Quicksilver trim pump fluid

or

10w - 30 motor oil

are the 2 typical fluids called out in the mercruiser manuals.

I had the same issue. You can rebuild or replace the two trim cylinders, or cheap out and suck most of the oil out of the PTT reservoir and replace it periodically. I went the cheap out method.
