Trim pump only goes up?

Hey guys. Ive got an older style Merc trim pump in my boat to power the hyd jackplate.
Yesterday I found it would only lift up and not down.
It would click when the down button was pressed.
I fooled around with the assembly only to find that even with direct power to the motor it just wont turn one way.
Ive never had a problem with this system...
Any ideas on what to look for inside the motor???

Some of those older units have an external limit switch. If your plate is in the full 'up' position it's possible the switch is a goner. Then it could also be the relay.
Had an older Sea & Ski ( POS ) plate. Same thing happened - was that pesky switch.
Hopefully someone will come along with a positive answer for you.

I know nothing about Merc's but on My Evinrude there are two relays on for up one for down. Mine did the same thing I switched them out. It would then go down but not up, bought a new relay everything's good to go now.
