Trim Pump Refill - 1993 OMC Cobra (24' Four winns)

I don't have access to the owner's manual for the boat I recently picked up. I can't get the outdrive to raise without helping it. I imagine I need to add some fluid. I don't know if this will be a regular problem (needing repair) or if it simply has not been filled by the previous owners.

So, do any of you know if this system takes the trans fluid or the 30 weight oil? I have the feeling I should add trans fluid, but after reading several early '90s questions ont eh same topic, I wonder.

I need to work on this soon, so I will assume I am safe with trans fluid. I will pull out a bit of the old fluid to be sure.

I hear that there are some service manuals that make better knee pads that information sources. Can I get a recommendation on where to get the best book for my 1993 OMC 5.8 Four Winns outboard?
