I am in the process of restoring my 87 cruisers 2400 and I have been working on getting my trim gauge to read, I have reconnected the wires coming from the alpha 1 outdrive to there designated spots, I have read that one trim sender wire should be black and one should have a brown sleeve, mine has a purple sleeve? I have connected the purple sleeve wire to the brown/white wire and the other to ground. I still only get a reading of full up trim on my gauge so I removed the trim sender on the outdrive and it does not look like any other mercruiser sender I have seen, It does not have a gear that goes into the outdrive, it is just two wires going in attached to screws across from each other, I will try to upload a picture shortly, any pointers? Thanks a lot

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,... You've got Part of a sender there....

That's the most useless gauge on a boat's dash anyways....

Mine's got billet aluminum caps on there...

It's not a dummy sender, it's half of a sender. The bottom part is missing.

It's a dummy sender to hold the wires in place until you get a new Sender, it's made completely different of a real one
