Hey again everyone...
Going through EVERYTHING on the boat right now, have the drive off, and after digging around near the bellhousing, turns out my trim sender wiring has literally disintegrated. Checked inside the boat, and its even worse, it crumbles in your hands. Priced out new sender and switch, not too bad, but how much work is the install??
Is this common for the age of these drives?? It's an '83 Merc 898 that is in otherwise good shape after the inspection. Is there a way to do this without removing the bellhousing or going any further into the drive??
BTW, replaced gimbal bearing, bellows check out good..bearing had slack so did it while it was apart. I shot all around the bearing with PB Blaster for two days and it came out VERY easy...no fighting. Just waiting on the new one to replace it...
