I have a vovlo 5.0FI with an sx outdrive. I was wondering if the trim sender in the outdrive, could be ajusted while the boat was in the water? The sender works with the gauge. but takes a few seconds after the drive is moving up to get a reading.

Re: trim sender

Mine is on the outdrive side. But it is under water. I was just curious if I had to take the boat out of the water to adjust it. If I do I will wait till the end of the season to fix it.

Re: trim sender

FYI: My experience is with Volvo P DP drives yet am assuming they use a common sender etc.
Other than the chance of loosing your tools there shouldn't be an issue adjusting it under water etc. I've done mine in the driveway - it's just two small bolts (8mm on my DP drive) that you slightly loosen and then rotate the sender clockwise or counter etc.. With ignition key in the off position, Make your adjustments in very small increments - tighten then run drive up and down fully a few times to check both upper and lower readings. Mine was very finicky. On my unit, adjusting with the key on did not allow me to see movement in the gage - so don't expect that etc..

Good luck

Re: trim sender

Thanks for the info. I think I might give it a try next time I am in shallow water. I just did not want to take the boat out to do this, if I had to I would wait until the boat is out of the water for the season.
