Just traced our minor oil drip to a leaky o ring from the trim cylinder from the VOLVO PENTA SX A (2008 model with 12 hours on it) drive trim cylinder. Is there is service kit. Seems a waste to trash a cylinder with 12 hours on the boat for this oil drip.
STEERING. What is the function of the ANCHOR BOLT on the Power steering pump assembly on the 5.0 L Gl / SXA drive combo.
We have had a v tight steering which used to pull to left and now is v hard to steer. Did the following.
We disconnected the steering cable to test the steering and cable movement before it links up with the Transom linkage. Steering and cable turn just fine.
Put everything back and the steering turns fine on dry dock with minor effort with ENGINE NOT RUNNING.
START THE ENGINE ON DRY DOCK and try turning the steering and its a lot harder and stiffer to turn the steering. I thought POWER STEERING was meant to make your life easier.
Clearly in this case the Power steering is making it harder to steer. No leaks of oil, no noises, also seen the P/S oil cannister and it shows oil is circulating.
While looking at the parts schematic I saw this item called an ANCHOR bolt for the steering cylinder. Wonder if any adjustment to it can ease off the steering. What is the purpose of this Bolt.
