Greetings,
1982 Merc 898
I've finally gotten the time and motivation to dig into the trim problem I've been having.
I have the (standard for the time?) Quicksilver panel mount remote control with the trim toggle and the trailer button. The trim down button works as it should (as far as I know). The trim up button gets no response. The trailer button works from all positions and will limit out at the top.
A side problem is that my position sender wires are shredded, and needing replacement to get proper gauge read out. I've just been making due, carefully observing where my trim is. The limit switch looks to be ok. I plan to replace the position sender/wiring soon as well.
Back to the trim up button, where do I start troubleshooting this? Could it be a connection back at the trim unit? Is it possible that the limit switch is messed up thinking that it's all of the way up? I've never done anything trim related, so be gentle! Thanks for any help.
