Greetings wise and knowledgeable boat wizards,
I have a 'cruiser 160 in my '68 Thunderbird cuddy. i was able to aquire a complete 1988 mercruiser 4.3 V6, with complete outdrive. the hydrolic trim system appears to have somewhat improved in the twenty years difference, and the 160's didn't work but one direction (unknown if this was a loose connection, or pump failure..or ??). My question is; will these systems interchange in their entirety? i realize the bushings are larger, etc. but i have all of these too.
In the spirit of efficiency, i'm going to slide in another question....for those who have experience with both the 160 (GM L6, time tested and proven old mill) and the GM 4.3 V6...would i be a bozo if i were to attempt a swap? mind you, i am working with the single engine brother to the "Flipper" patrol boat.
I certainly appreciate this forum. I would be so lost without the guidance i receive from the forum, and the "Adults only" (hahaha!! fellow had a great sense of humor-logic!!) tech reads.
Thank you in advance!
