I am getting confusing info from various sources including Mercury Marine regarding the correct material for the trim tab/anode for this motor when used in fresh water. At one point Mercury says you can use zinc in fresh or salt water, another time others say magnesium preferred for fresh or aluminum can be used in fresh or salt water.

Does anyone know which material is correct and or preferred for fresh water. I assume all inland lakes and rivers are fresh so it is not easy to understand why most places sell zinc for the trim tab for this part number 94832Q 6. I have no idea if the material in any way affects anything other than durability for this part in different water conditions such as salt or fresh. The serial number for this motor is 0B236228 (first numeral is a zero before the B) model 1025577 version ELH
