Hello & Happy Independence Day,

[edit]I'll have to look closer at this. I have the allen head bolt in my hand, the lower is fastened to the upper. After I loosened the bolt and removed the tab the bolt seems to have been pushed through.

Thank you.

Like it says, what is that little piece up in there that holds the bolt in?

What would you do to hold the trim tab anode on if that little piece up in there was not there any longer?

What is this "Thing" you are talking about? Got a picture you could post???
What drive are you working on?

well, if were talking mercruiser, Alpha`s use a allen head that can be lost only when splitting the unit, Alpha GEN II`s use a bolt installed from the top of the upper unit

Just a reminder: If you drop your lower to change the impeller, do not leave the allen wrench sticking up out of that hole and tilt the drive up. Especially if you have a swim platform. You'll likely pop that little bolt holding thingy, and maybe the metal that holds it in, straight out the bottom of the trim tab anode cavity.

It just struck me what you are talking about in that sentence. It is a Mercruiser drive, and You broke out the part of the lower unit that the bolt goes through.
