Trim Tab Missing or supposed to be this way? '83 Mercruiser

Looking at buying this Stingray and I noticed it doesn't have a trim tab like every other boat I've owned. Is it supposed to lack such a device?

if the boat has power steering. the tab isn't necessary. there should be a blank plate in it's place though that is a zinc for corrosion protection.

nice wale tale. po must think he ha problems with the way his boat performed.

It's possible the previous owner took it off so that prop would clear the fin. If that is the case, and you want a fin, you can either grind off part of a new fin to clear the prop, or get an outboard anode that has the setback built in.
