Trim tab question

I have a '94 Larson 19.5' boat with a Volvo 5.0FL and a SX outdrive. One of the things I noticed with this outdrive is there is no trim tab, just a plug where the trim tab goes. Is this normal, or should there be a tab. I downloaded the manual, and it shows the tab and the installation procedures. So, are all outdrives supposed to have a trim tab, or do some lack them? And why would one outdrive have them, and another not.

I've also noticed that... My outdrive has one... But am curious about this as well... Maybe it makes a difference depending on the set-up, or how much power/weight ratio the boat has...

Re: Trim tab question

if you have power steering, you will have no trim tab. No need.

Re: Trim tab question

THANKS ALL!!

I have power steering so that makes sense. I always thought they were there to counter the inertia from the rotation of the prop. I am pretty sure my folks '87 Baja Islander 20' has one even though it has power steering, but that boat is the epitome of overkill.
