Trim Tab rebuikd kits?

On my '86 Wellcraft 23xl I have the Bennett Trim Tabs (V 351 ?). I only really use them to help with weight distribution.

On the trailer when I tested them they would leak at the hose connections at the pump assembly and fully retract within a few hours, the fittings are tight.

While doing my weekly fluids checks, I now have water mixed in with the ATF fluid of Trim Tab reservoir from my previous outing.

Can the actuators be rebuilt and can I use regular compression fittings instead of the nut with ferrule type?

I would call Bennett. Excellent CS. I had an "O" ring issue but it was at the lower part.

yes the actuators can be rebuilt. call Bennett, they usually send out o-ring kits without charge. they can also answer the connection question. however why change what works.

Turn-N-Burn,

If you send me your name and address in a private message, or to Tabmanhelp@gmail.com I will be delighted to send you new O-rings for the actuators and instructions how to change them as well as new nut and ferrule fittings for the tubing at the pump, no charge.

The nut and ferrules work well and I can't really recommend any other type of fittings.

Re: Trim Tab rebuikd kits?

Tom,

Thank you for the offer and awesome customer support you provide, it's rare to find anymore!

Unfortunately, I have deeper issues than I thought and need to do a closer inspection. It appears that the majority of the leak is now coming from the port side tab(most if not all the atf fluid collected in port side bilge area). Even though the starboard side leaks down, there is no pooling of fluid.

Also, the HPU is located on the starboard side transom and the nut/ferrules is a very minimal leak.

If one side such as the port side has a leak problem, will the starboard side transfer its pressure/oil to the leaky side?

Once I dig a little deeper, I may just need to place an order.

Again, Thanks for a great product and customer support!

T-n-B,

Do you think the fluid is leaking where the pipe nipple (#17) goes through the transom? You may see fluid on the transom.

The sides are separate once the valves are closed, a properly functioning unit cannot transfer pressure between the sides.

Is the boat kept in the water or on a trailer?
