If youre talking about the adjustable tab behind the prop, It wont affect the operation of the motor, as long as you dont mind holding pressure on the wheel the whole time to keep the boat from veering off to the right from prop rotation.
Or are you talking about the skeg on the very bottom?
Edit: Why did I say prop rotation...I meant engine rotation...like he says below ..the torque of the spinning engine will make the motor turn hard left, which will make the boat go right, that what the tab is for to compensate for that,.,,,
