I recently purchased a used lower unit for my 55hp evinrude. Although it came with the trim tab, it was unattached. Therefore I am seeking help on how to adjust it, what it accually does, and what to look for while running to know if it's right or wrong.

Re: Trim tab

It basically acts as a rudder for your motor. Start with it in the center position. If the boats steering pulls left, then adjust the back of the fin to the left a bit. Same if it pulls right. Adjust the back of the fin to the right until it runs straight.
