We have a 2006 Hurricane GS202 I/O. I bought some Bennett stainless 10" tabs and now have two questions. (1) They recommend mounting 4" from the chine, making them about 9" from the chine to the center of the tab. Due to my tie-downs, I would have to move them in about 5".Would this make much of a difference? (2) I can't see what is inside of the transom where the screws would go. I don't think there is anything of concern (wire, cable, etc), but want to be sure, Thanks, Jack

# 1 - when you say 5" . . . do you mean 5 additional inches, or just an extra inch vs. the 4" recommendation? A picture or 2 would definitely help

#2 - we do not necessarily know what is behind your transom. However, the mounting screws should not penetrate the inside of the transom, (which should be about 2" thick. However, a few pictures of the inside area of the transom where the tabs will be mounted (both sides) would also help.

Moving them over 1” or 6” for that matter isn’t a big deal.

On my current boat they are 3” in (12”) and on previous boat they where 6” in for the same reason. Pretty common to see tabs centered 12-24” in.

Wider is better for stability but plus or minus a couple of inches will’nt amount to a hill of beans
