Hey guys,

I'm a little baffled here. I replaced both my trim pucks last year and installed a gauge. The up was not working at all and there was no gauge. After installing and calibrating, they were working great. They never saw the water before boat was winterized. Just fired up the boat today, and the up isn't working again and my gauge is showing as 3/4 up even though the stern is all the way down. The needle does move when I go up and down, but full down is about 3/4 up or so. Any thoughts on what could have happened between winter and now? Could the new sensor be dead all ready? I don't want ot go through that again!!

Thanks!!

I think you mean outdrive trim. Check the pucks. . . Sounds like they moved. The one on the port side controls the UP, the one on the starboard side controls the gauge.

Thanks tpenfield I will take a look. Does that happen normally? They move?

Thanks! Yep, that's what it was. Odd. I think I'm going to tap the holes and use a little bit bigger screws for it.

Just make sure the screws will fit into the slots on the pucks . . . else you may wish you hadn't tapped the holes.

Just get the hold downs very clean and snug them properly. Don't over tighten though, I have broken a trim sender with too much torque.
And I expect you know that the sender managers the up control. Set it correctly and it won't allow you to raise the drive too far while running. You will also have a trailer button for full up, above the sender limit. It's ok to use that for up if the sender gets out of adjustment.

Yeah, it's just one on the Gauge tab that won't snug up. That's the one I am going to tap.
Thanks NHGuy, I figured that out when I found that the Gauge was off and moved that sender. So I when I moved the other one, it started working. Now I just need to measure the piston lengths again and set it where it needs to be.
