Does the motor have to be removed from the boat to pull the T/T unit out?

I was able to remove the PTT unit from my '98 150V6. I would think your motor's PTT unit is the same. There were two rods that needed to be driven out of the motor's triple clamp and transom clamp, respectively. The motor had a manual tilt lock to hold it in the up position.

BTW - I had to remove the wires that went to the troim motor from their connector, in order for them to pass thru the hole in the transom clamp.

That's what I thought but my yard guy says different... then I watched him remove a PTT from a later model Ficht which looks pretty similar to my PTT!
