Trim/Tilt dips down slowly ..... is it a problem using it on the water

I have a 1998 yamaha 75 hp and the trim/tilt began to leak down. I checked the level of the fluid and tried to bleed the system the best I could (any advice here would be great) and it did get much better. Now, after letting it sit for an hour in the "half tilt" position I, measured it and it fell roughly about an inch. My question is is this going to be a problem when I use it on the water? I don't mind putting up with it falling because of the lock mechanism for trailering it, but is it going to seriously effect the trim when I am motoring around. Also, is it something that more often than not gets worse?

Thanks for the help

My Enduro 75 doesn't have PTT.I just use the adjustable rod in the bracket. If you have the adjustable rod in the bracket I wouldn't worry about your PTT not working 100%.

Matt,
How do I know if I have the adjustable bracket? Sorry if I may be dumb but I am kind of newbie at this boating thing. Are you talking about the little pole and the series of holes at the bottom of the transom bracket? If that is what you are talking about, I do have it :D. Would I be able to use this bracket forever if the T/T were to completely give way and I wanted to manually raise and lower the engine from then on. It seems like if the trim pump went dead the engine would just rest on that pole which seems logical enough, but I am afraid that it would bounce up and down. Perhaps I am wrong. Thank you man for your help

Yes , the pole and the group of holes. As long as you can manually raise and lower the motor I wouldn't hesitate to use it this way.
As far as the motor bouncing around , I never operate my outboard with the lower unit in the locked position. If you hit something unseen in the water it will really damage the lower unit. You just have to be very careful when going into reverse.

Ohh ok well that is good to know. You have to be careful backing up I'm guessing because the prop is now thrusting away from the stern and can push the motor up. This is wonderful news.:D Thank you sir
