Trim/tilt install 2001 Crestliner 60 Merc Bigfoot

I'd like to add a trim gauge to my pontoon boat. It's a 2001 Crestliner with a 2001 60 hp Merc bigfoot w/ power trim. The throttle handle has the trim switch built in. I bought a used trim gauge from an older Crestliner. What else do I need to hook it up. Is there a power trim sending unit on the motor or will I have to install something else to send the signal to the gauge? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same year Bigfoot engine on my pontoon. I too was looking to install a trim and tilt detector on my motor. The sending unit was $72.00 ordered from any merc dealer. The gauge can be purchased cheap on ebay as any brand name gauge will work with the sending unit. No other sending units from other models of mercury o/b motors will work on the bigfoot. This is what a merc mechanic told me and he did'nt have a nickel in it. Regards
