Hey Everyone,

So while I was working on my boat yesterday I noticed something wrong with the trim/tilt function on my motor. When I was lowering the unit teh motor began to shake violently up and down and made teh entire boat shake until it was finally down in a low enough position. I greased the area and tired it again, and it still continues. I have never seen this happen in this engine. It always tilted up and down smoothly. Any ideas?

It may be low on PTT fluid. Raise it up all the way, let her sit a few minutes and then remove the resvoir plug and refill with Dextron III ATF. Run it down and up and let her and repeat.

I have a question about that as well. When I opened the resivior plug the liquid came pouring out of it. I quickly resealed the plug. Is this normal? Also the liquid was a pink color, almost milkly. Is this how the fluid is supposed to look?

The PTT fluid is auto trans fluid. It should be clear read w/o mlkyness. You either have air mixed into the fluid which is normal, or water mixed in which is bad. Tilt the motor all the way up, lock it up and let it sit for an hour. Now open the cap and see what comes out. If it is still milky, remove the unit and dump it out and refill and bleed it and see if the issue returns. If it does you need to reseal the unit.

OMC makes a rubber parts kit fior that unit I will bet. I bought one for my '98 Johnny for $50

Thanks for your response. I will try that out. Can you check the fluid level while the boat is in the water? I have a feeling that the liquid is leaking out more than it should because the boat is not level. It is on blocks in the boatyard and im pretty sure that while it may lok straight it is tilted more towards the back.
