Hello,

Just trying to get the boat out for the first time this year and having issues with the trim/tilt. Everything was working fine last year. Left prop in trim up position, I know I probably should have left it down.

When hitting the up and down on the trim tilt the solenoids click but the trim motor makes absolutely no noise.

I took the trim tilt motor apart and without the hydraulic/oil chamber attached the motor spins just fine when the trim up/down buttons are pressed!

I tried taking a screwdriver and twisting the hydraulic/oil chamber device and I thought it was spinning just fine. Oil level in the chamber is normal.

Thinking that the motor was now working I put the motor back together and still I am getting the same results, the solenoids click but the motor does nothing. Frustrating!

Any suggestions on what I can try next?

See pictures for my equipment...

Did you check to see if there is power? The solenoid is just a switch. There is a fuse for the primary line that runs the pump motor.

How did you manage to take the motor apart attached to the housing

pressing the trim buttons operate the solenoids that operate the motor?????
Now were confused.

Thanks for the replies..

I tested the voltage across the solenoids with a multimeter when the trim up/down switch was pressed and there seemed to be power across the solenoids. (Multimeter spiked to 60-80 volts)

Is there another test to make sure the solenoids are working? Would the trim motor spin without the hydraulic reservoir attached if the solenoids were bad?

Bt Doctur -

I removed the trim motor pump from the hydraulic reservoir to expose the trim pump drive shaft piece. I didnt take a picture of this.

Yes, pressing the trim buttons operate the solenoids that activate the trim motor? Right?

The electrical connections inside the motor were corroded. Opened the motor and spun the drive shaft with a drill and it works again.
