Trim/Tilt leakdown 2009 90hp Etec

After I tilt the motor up after use ( boat is left in water) when I come back in several days the motor leaks down to it's operating position. This is a nuisance since the brackish water stains the lower unit badly. Is there a simple fix for this? Thanks

I concur with the manual relief valve being tight, however, if it is tight and the orings are damaged then the unit would leak down as you described. In my experience the manual relief valve is usually the problem with a leakdown 99% of the time. Pull the manual relief valve and inspect the orings and the flat rubber tab at the end of the valve for wear before you do anything else to the unit.
