Hello, I have a 1985 OMC 3.8L V6 with an OMC V6 Outdrive. My outdrive will not go up or down, the motor will not even spin the gear that moves the stringer gear. When I press the up or down on the throtle there is a clicking from the motor. I have traced the clicking to the relays. There are two relays and I can feel the clicking inside the relay that is closest to the carb or the front of the motor. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, thank you to all the reply, happy boating!!

You can try jumping across the relay with a heavy screwdriver to see if it works then. If it does, you either have bad connections or a bad relay. I ended up having to replace all 4 of mine because they were bad from age.

If it still just clicks, check that the battery is good/fully charged, the drive isn't bound (ie, did it get slammed down? Are the trunnions (pivot points) properly greased & free?), check the motor (remove & see if it spins strong), etc.

if you're trying to tilt the drive, you're using the wrong switches.
the switches on your throttle are for the motor of the selectrim hydraulic pump , not drive tilt

there should be a switch on the dash for tilt.
Tilt and Trim are 2 completely independent systems on your boat

Those selectrim motors are famous for carboning up inside - probably need to take it apart and clean the commutator bars -or take it to a motor shop
