Am trying to locate the correct part number and place to buy a Trim/Tilt switch on the Neutral control Lever for a Commander 2000 on Mercury 90HP outboard 1996 Glastron. Also, the current switch I have at first would work tilting the engine "up" but not "down". I checked the voltage going to all 3 wires ( red, blue, green) after I plugged the battery in and the red wire read 12volts but the green and blue have no voltage.
To let you know, the wore connections from the handle to the engine are... the red-and-white wire is connected to a red-and-white wire. The blue-and-white wire is connected to a blue-and-white wire. But the green-and-white sire on the handle is connected to a brown-and-white wire( on the engine). The engine trim/tilt switch is also connected the same way.
At first the trim/tilt handle switch only worked to the "up" position. I went to the the back of the boat, disconnected the green-and-white wire from a brown-and-white wire which was how the boat was wired up, connected a stray green-and-white wire ( only 1 of 2 wires on the engine with no voltage and not connected to anything else). Now the tilt switch would not work on either the up or down movement. So I reconnected the brown and white wire, and noticed that now the switch won't work in either "up" or 'down" position. Note the red wire still has 12 volts going to it. I could not find a decent diagram of the wiring for this boat and need to know what the correct part number is for the switch and any other parts I may need to get the trim/tilt switch to operate correctly. I figured it was the switch itself which was the problem, so I am replacing that first. I also checked the fuse and it is ok .
Hey the trim/tilt switch on the engine itself works great! Thanks.
