Can anyone help, my trim motor is barely moving the powerhead up and down, on the up it just clicks ......

Helloooooooooo !!!!!!!!!! Can anyone help please?
I checked the connections, all tight and clean, i found out the trim motor wires connect to the engine battery, it's a astrolite 24M captain and is at 9.8V, is this a 24V battery and less than half charged, or will the motor not raise unless it is at like 11 or 12volts???????

you have a very weak battery my friend. Try charging it and then give it a shot.

is it a 12 volt battery or 24 that i have?
if it is a 12 then it is only 2 volts low and that would cause this problem?

The battery should have the voltage on it. I would bet 12V but don't take my word for it. Check and then charge it up. While it is charging check the hydraulic fluid and top off if it is low.

FYI, a 12V battery is considered fully discharged when it's voltage drops down to somewhere near 11V, perhaps even a bit higher.
At 9.8 volts, your battery is done.

Try recharging it to full state and try again.

Also try being a little patient with soliciting free advice from the forum. It's a weekend, and many are out and about so it may take many hours to start getting responses.

You said you have weeks till it freezes, yet you're freaking out because you haven't gotten answers to your questions within 3 hours?

Calm down. Go recharge your battery. It's likely a 12V battery, so it should read 13V or so when fully charged. Then try your trim.

Brewman is absolutely correct, on all points.

At that low of a voltage is a wonder it's doing anything.

Thanks brewman/all it works fine now, never expected it to have to be around 11 or 12 volts to work at all.....

In case somebody searches. It could be low on oil also.

I think you have a new battery in your future. There is little chance that battery will take a charge although you might get enough in it to raise the motor.
