Replaced the impeller pump, pull the boat out the garage, trimmed down, put the muffs on, fired her up and let her idle for 30 minutes or so.

* used the trim up and trip down a few times while idling without any problems
* shut her down, disconnected the muffs

Now to verify my trim gauge

* trimmed all the way up (no problems)
* trimmed all the way down (no problems)
* trimmed all the way again (no problems)
* used the TRAILER mode to trim up to TRAILER MODE

Backed her into the garage.

* trimmed down for storage (no problem) got a little close to the concrete
but did not hit.
* decided to trim up a bit and TRIM UP SWITCH DOES NOT WORK!
* TRAILER MODE TRIMS UP FINE
* TRIM DOWN WORKS OK
* TRIM UP DOES NOTHING

But since the Trailer Mode works...shouldn't the trim up switch work also???

Thanks,
Sam

Nope! Your problem is probably either the trim limit switch or it's wiring. The trim limit switch prevents you from trimming up too much when you are under way by switching off the up trim at a certain point. the trailer switch bypasses the limit switch and is used to run the outdrive all the way up.

Re: Trim Up Problem

You have the diagram on page 1B 16. From the diagram: when you hit "trim up" the voltage goes from the switch to the connector 14 - 16 (p/w wire) through the limit switch -14 - 15 (b/w wire) to the solenoid. When you hit "trailer" your voltage goes directly to 15 (2 b/w wires). Try this : Find the two black wires that go into the connectors 14-15. Unplug and jumper between 14 and 15, try the "trim up". If it works you have isolated the problem. Your trim limit switch is on the port side of the gimbal ring. If you are careful it can be disassembled and cleaned. Make sure that you mark it so you can put it back as it was. Adults only, #9, manual #14 (gen II), section 4A will tell you how to adjust. Good luck. Sorry had the wrong manual there for a minute.

Re: Trim Up Problem

PROBLEM SOLVED

Jumped #14 and #15 (port trim limiting switch bullet wires) and it trimmed right up. Marked the trim limit switch, cleaned the little it up trimmed her down as far as I could (on trailer in garage) and was able to trim up until the limit switch stopped her from going further, although not too far up though

Now I just need to adjust the limit switch because I think it may have moved or something.

BTW: iBoats rock and I love learning this stuff :)

Glad it worked out. The manual tells how to adjust. The key number is 20 3/4 (on a gen II) inches center to center on trim cylinder bolts at full up trim. Have a great 4th.:D
