The trim up switch does not make a sound at the trim motor or anything when I move it. I understand it should start the motor. What can I do to check the switch and what to do to fix it?

ogjmal1,

Tagging on is considered rude. Besides, your question is different. I'm moving yours to I/O's.

Blue,

I do not know what kind of engine you are working on.

However, most trim switches employ three wires. One common, one up, one for down.

It's simple to test. Since you have motor activation in one direction, you can assume your common (hot) wire is OK.

That leaves one of the other two circuits dead.

Get a test light and ground the test light clamp lead. Touch the testlight probe end to either of the other two wire terminals while activating the switch. That will tell you which circuit is dead.

Let us know.

Trimming problems are not my forte, but I'll give it a shot! Are you saying you have no trim, either direction? If so, check the fuse block, the battery connections. Dad always said "Start at the source!"
Let us know!
Happy Boating!
Brian
