My trim wiring going to the senders are trashed. One wire is so corroded, it broke. I have down, but up only from the 'Trailering' button on the dash, not the 'trim up' on the throttle.

I would like to replace the wires, but, how in the world would I get the new wires through the transom? Do I have to remove the bell housing? There are 2 wires on the inside of the boat that go through the transom in the same location (both are duplex wires, black), how do I know which is the duplex wire that I need to replace? I've tried tracing them back, but lose both of them in different areas, so I can't figure out which one is for the trim. What would the the one be for?

Can I just splice into the wires at the sender, and be done with it? What gauge wire is it? It's in such poor condition, I really can't even tell what size it is...

Re: Trim wiring

You need new switch/sender set. With the wires corroded off at the sender, you know the insides of the sender/switch are the same corroded mess.
Get the OEM set if you replace them, not much more money, but they will last a lot longer.

Most people just bypass the limit switch wiring inside the boat and use the trim switch to raise and lower the drive. You just have to pay attention what is going on with the drive. It's easy to run by feel of the boat.

Yes you have to remove the bellows and bellhousing to get to where the wires go through the transom. Best bet for now is to bypass the trim limit switch so your trim switch works. Look for the black wires going into connector with a purple/white wire and a connector with two blue/white wires. Jumper between the connectors and the trim switch should work, same as trailer with no limit.
