Trim woes......

Having put everything back together recently, having had the sterndrive off, I found one of the trim rams had extended itself so far that I couldn't get the rear bolt in to push it in. Having posted on here, you guys recommended undoing one of the high pressure hoses on the ram to let out some fluid, which I did and it worked.

My problem now is that the leg won't go fully IN. I have raised and lowered it several times to see if it resets but the ram length remains at about 20". The book says it should be 21 3/4" fully extended, therefore its not going down enough.

I've had the limiter and senders off to reset them, they are fine and no signes of corrosion, I've also checked the continuity of the wires and thats fine .

The next thing I may try is to disconnect both lines for raising the leg to let off some fluid, top up the reservoir and see if that resets it..What do you think guys?

Ayuh,... I'd just take the Up line off at the pump....
The drive should drop like a rock...

I'll give that a go, thanks.

Luckily they are colour coded, the Black is Up! :)

Hey Bond 0.......it worked. :)

I had to raise it slightly first because it was nearly down and I couldn't push it further. However once I'd raised it, disconnected the UP pipe at the pump and pushed on the sterndrive, it I seemed to go down to where it was sticking and then there was a little bump before it pushed past the sticking point and went fully in.

I added some oil and it all worked fine after that and I adjusted it as per the manual. The trim switch is a little sticky, so may require maintenance or a new solenoid.

Thank you so much. :)
