I have a 24' toon with a 115hp johnson on it. It has hydraulic tilt but no trim so i cannot trim under a load. I am wondering if it would do any good to move the stop pin to another hole to bring the moter out a little and maybe get some more speed, or is a pontoon not like other boats and doesn't plane.

A pontoon does not get up on plane.
Some newer designs will go faster than traditional pontoons.

Trim angle will make a slight difference, particularly if you have a bow down situation. Too much trim will scrub speed and increase engine load as well.

Trial and error.

I have a 21ft pontoon with a 60hp Evinrude with tilt and trim. What Roscoe said about a 'toon not getting up "on plane" is true. However, the trim on mine makes a huge difference in that there is definitely that "sweet spot" where I adjust for water conditions and load shift and the motor seems to smooth out and not labor to run. I would recommend the same. Trial and error. You'll see a difference.
