While on vacation, I get a call that I need to head to Plymouth England to assist in an installation / commissioning for a project at work.

took a few pics that you guys may be interested in.

yes, that is where the mayflower sailed from, yes, that boat is a few years older than the US, and yes, those are cannons

Kind of humbling to be in the midst of history like that.

Cool! Thanks for sharing Scott. Looks like you had a good time. I haven't had the opportunity to see that part of Europe. Lots of nautical history I'd like to see.

Cool photos! It is amazing to meet the past in a way to make it more real. And it's astounding the size boats they used to sail over the Atlantic in! The route the Mayflower sailed is roughly the same one the Titanic sailed.

I can't imagine 57 people aboard such a small vessel

I am told by friends from the east coast that we don't have any real antiques here in Colorado...I'm sure the same could be said to people of the east coast from those from Europe...that they don't have any real antiques!

Pretty cool, thanks for posting, I am historically illiterate as they come...

Awesome pics. I love seeing pics of different hull designs that different regions of the world use for their regions. The vintage vessels (very vintage!) are amazing to think they were all constructed by hand without any powered tools. Thanks for posting!
