I bought a new marine trolling battery. A week later my 13 year old fishing buddy set a cordless drill complete with spade bit on a shelf and it fell off.

Naturally, it just had to skewer our new battery.

I don't think it penetrated deep enough to do any internal damage, but it left a cut about an inch wide right in the top of the battery.

Is this repairable? With what and how?

I hate to throw away enough money for a whole fishing trip and then some.

Thanks a bunch.

Rough up the surface around the break and patch it with epoxy resin.

A neighbor suggested black PVC cement. The kind used to join black plastic plumbing fixtures.

It worked beautifully.

Have someone weld it or for about $50 you can buy your own plastic welder. I paid $120 for a plastic fuel tank for my Kubota tractor and then found out it could have been welded.
