I'm buying a 12V Minn Kota 30lbs thrust trolling motor for my ScottCanoe (I'm only 17yrs old so its all i could aford) and I was wondering what brand/kind of battery i should get for it and what kind of charger seeing as deep cycle batteries need a different charger what should i get? I was thinking normal car battery charger?YES?NO?<br />Is a MotoMaster Nautilus Gold (730mca) battery from Canadian Tire anygood?

Re: Trolling motor battery and charger?

You of cource want to get a deep cycle battery, not a regular car battery, the higher the number the more capacity it will carry. There are many good brands out there, no need to get a real expensive one. A 2-5 amp charger is recomended for charging deep cycles.
