This didn't get any replies in Boats topics, so maybe the outboard side has more experience; same question:

There's a huge difference in price on motor connectors; I'd like to hook up my Yamaha 9.9 to my main motor so I can turn the trolling motor with the big Johnson.
For example Cabela's has a $23+/- connector http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...21322&parentId=cat21322&parentType=index&rid=
that looks pretty slick. Much neater, in fact, than the EZ Steer brand that hangs on the back of the motors.
Anyone have any experience with these? Advise?

Re: Trolling motor connectors....which one?

I almost considered doing the same thing with myy Mercury 20hp hooked up to my Mercury 200hp. I thought that the coolest thing about it was that you could leave it connected when the kicker motor was not even running. The only drawbacks that kept me from installing one was the thought of how much more of a problem it would be to steer the main (in use) while the kicker (not in use) was attached. Another problem was more toward the safety side. My kicker only had throttle control on the unit itself (no remote cable attachment). In theory, it would work with the right setup, but not practical for my use.

That's what appealed to me about the one I've referenced above; it's supposed to un-hook fairly easy when not in use.
Guess I'll get it and try it. The price is certainly inexpensive enough.
