Have a minn cota 36 lb. thrust, foot pedal trolling motor. It was left on and was wedged onto boat causing motor to be fried/frozen. It is a really nice motor. Does anyone know if I'm able to fix this or is it worth fixing. Can I buy a used motor and do a switch?

Is the motor seized? If so you can probably swap the motor itself but most likely won't be worth it. If not check to see if you have a circuit breaker, or fuse. It may even have one internally. There is usually some kind of overload protection. Did you install this yourself?

No, I did not install myself, however looked everywere and no circiut breaker. The motor is seized and smells burnt(very strong odor), all inside is black, no copper color from motor.

No TM's have internal breakers. If they fry, they fry. If you've baked the armature in this one, ditch it and get something else. If the armature burned, it's ruined the brushes and the brush holders. You can go on Ebay and find something better for less than what you can fix that motor for. MinnKota recommends a installing a 50amp breaker in the supply circuit for the motor to prevent such damage.

Toss it or sell it for parts.

UFM82

Thank you so much for your help/comments, I will probably ditch it. Went fishing today and it wasn't the same without my minncota :(
