Pete, Not many use an electric motor in saltwater, due to the need for more power for bigger saltwater boats than an electric motor can provide.

The boat I have is small 14 ft. boat and we only fish the bay. I was wondering if the salt water hurts the motor or the fish finder?

Pete, The FF should not be an issue. Can you determine if the trolling motor is an aluminum case with a stainless prop shaft? If so, you are good to go. If you flush it well, yu can likely use any trolling motor.
