Trolling motor issue

I have a minn Kota all terrain trolling motor 65lb thrust 24 volt serial#WWAG2206201. Don't know the year as I recently purchased the boat and that is a 1996. I am getting intermittent power and noise from the motor. I took the prop and housing off to get a look and a lot of water came out. I'm pretty sure these are supposed to be sealed units so I'm guessing I need to replace the seals and put in a new bearing but minn Kota doesn't even make this motor anymore.
Do they make aftermarket parts for this motor and am I in the right direction as far as attempting to repair it.

Thanks for any help

We can't see your motor so we can't tell you for certain what's needed. But -- if water came out, the prop shaft bearings, housing and shaft seals obviously need replacing. And just doing that may not actually fix the intermittent power situation. Bad connections from the battery all the way to the motor, worn brushes, corrosion all need to be investigated.

That's no good, I know you can search online for parts. Do the new motors have compatible parts you can use?

Usually trolling motors use off-the-shelf sized bearings and seals. Because that is way cheaper to manufacture then specialty sizes. And those bearings should have the manufacture and part number stamped on the outer edges. But the brushes or brush holders can be iffy. I most certainly would open up the lower motor section and see what's needed. Yes there are places on the net that sell individual trolling motor parts. But you have to know what you need. Be careful when opening up the motor section because there will be some "O" ring type seals. And if you can't find new ones, then you will have to either reuse the old ones or measure and size them for unique "O" ring replacements. As for the output prop seal, I suspect you can find that still. Just search for trolling motor repair and then start looking for what you want. While your trolling motor is no longer manufactured, a lot of the internal parts could still be used in newer versions. But until you see what is needed, there is no way to tell. JMHO!

Go to the MinnKota web site and check the SUPPORT area for a list of authorized repair stations. They may have the parts you need. As for brushes, any electric motor/generator/starter repair shop in town may be able to provide those. If not an exact fit, get some that are just a little over size and file them down to fit. Nothing special with those from a functionality point.
