I have a motorguide 12/24 trolling motor that on the past two trips it was lost 1,2,3,4 on the speed selector. it is making a grinding noise in the lower head. Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is not all that uncommon... Sounds like the magnets in the motor have come loose... If the damage is'nt bad, you may be able to salvage the motor...

You will have to dis-assemble the motor and glue the magnets back in place... JB-Weld works good for gluing the magnets back in place, but all surfaces must be slightly roughed up and absloutely clean for the JB to stick...
