Quick question, I have a 17ft Nitro Bass Boat. It came with a 12v 45 pound thrust trolling motor from factory. It moved the boat pretty well. I put a 24v 82 pound thrust on it and it seems not to move the boat as fast. (I would think a 82 pound thrust would be moving that boat.) It seems like I'm going slower. I got 2 new batteries, no line wrapped on the shaft. Does how deep you have prop in the water determine the speed. The wiring from the batteries to the plug is original, don't now if that has anything to do with it, the boat is a 2005. Is there anything I need to check.

It sounds like you are not getting 24v and only running on 12. You should almost be able to ski behind a 17' bass boat with 82# thrust. Is there a rocker switch beside the plug on the panel marked 12/24? My older 20' Nitro had one and it was for a charger plug that would plug an adapter into the socket to charge the batteries from the front. Mine went bad and not give me 24 to the motor. Not knowing which motor you have I can't tell what the problem is. Check the voltage at the socket with a meter and make sure you have both 12 and 24 there. It is most likely a wiring problem. My Motoguide also had a 12/24 switch on the side of the pedal which had to be in the right position to run a max speed.
